What is a Degree Top Up?

Degree top-up programmes offer a flexible and efficient route for international students to earn a UK-accredited Bachelor's degree. Through the partnership between Student Success Global Education and the International College of London, students begin by completing Level 4 and Level 5 diploma programmes equivalent to the first two years of a UK undergraduate degree via distance learning. It is possible to complete this in just one year. Then progress to a one-year Level 6 top-up course delivered by a UK university, either online or on-campus.

  • A Top Up Degree programme is an academic pathway that allows students to complete the final year of a UK Bachelor's degree after earning recognised diplomas with the International College of London (ICL). Through our collaboration with ICL, Student Success Global Education offers students the opportunity to complete Level 4 and Level 5 diplomas which are equivalent to the first two years of a UK undergraduate degree via flexible distance learning. Once these are completed, students can transfer directly into their final year at a UK university to earn a full BA or BSc qualification either online or on campus.

  • Students will need to have completed high school education. If you need help meeting English language requirements, ICL offers its own English language test, and both the ICL and SSGE teams will assist you with preparation and support. The pathway also recognises your previous academic experience through Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL). Completion of our qualification will meet the university’s standard academic entry requirements. However, each applicant will be subject to individual assessment and other entry requirements which may affect university entry.

  • You can earn a UK Bachelor’s degree in just two years. One year for Level 4 and 5 diplomas with ICL and one year for the Top Up year at a UK university.

  • Yes you can! SSGE offers pathways, through our collaboration with ICL, to a wide range of UK universities including Derby, Essex, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Anglia Ruskin and many more. The degree is identical to those awarded to students who study on campus in the UK.

  • Absolutely! Many universities offer the final year fully online, allowing you to complete your degree remotely. You can also choose a blended option with on-campus study at the University you have chosen.

  • You’ll have access to British academic tutors, ICL’s Student Advisors and also extra personal guidance and mentoring from the SSGE team throughout your journey.
